KYLE, Texas — Parks such as Jacob's Well and 5-Mile Dam were shut down Sunday in Hays County due to intense rains. Streets in San Marcos and Kyle where also closed as flood waters covered several roads.

"Every time there's significant rain, this is what we get," said Sheila Henderson, who has been living near Lehman Road in Kyle for decades.

The road is completely covered in water as water flowed through it like a river.

"It just now rained and the roads are already closed," said Orlando Henderson, Sheila's husband.

Road closures have become a constant inconvenience for both Orlando and Sheila. They said the roadblock is nothing new.

"It's not good because it's going to divert all the traffic this way," Orlando explained. "And us being here 20 plus years, they should have already thought about fixing this."

As the closed down streets flood with water, the dry ones flood with traffic.

"In any big rain that closes streets, traffic is going to be diverted this way," Orlando explained.

He said his quiet neighborhood turns into a freeway as cars dash around his home.

"They should even consider putting road bumps," Sheila said.

The closed Lehman Road is a main area traveled by commuters across the City of Kyle, and Sheila said the best solution is to address it.

"Make an overpass to go over it versus it always having it closed off," she said.
