Austin Disaster Relief Network deploys teams to flood victims in Williamson County

Due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall, the San Gabriel River at Georgetown South Fork reached 24.32 feet Saturday morning, ADRN said. That is 15 feet more than the flood stage.

AUSTIN — The Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) deployed teams to assist residents evacuated from the Shady River RV Resort on Highway 29 in Williamson County Saturday.

Due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall, the San Gabriel River at Georgetown South Fork reached 24.32 feet Saturday morning, ADRN said. That is 15 feet more than the flood stage.

ADRN's network of more than 185 churches will also provide volunteers to assist the area with emotional and spiritual care, emergency financial support and the sponsoring of families to meet their needs.

“The Austin Disaster Relief Network is monitoring the water level of the San Gabriel River carefully. We will be working in partnership with the Williamson County EOC to respond with emotional, physical and spiritual support to disaster survivors in the flooded areas,” said ADRN executive director Daniel Geraci. “We are coordinating closely with local officials in the areas where there is already flooding to deliver the appropriate resources as quickly as possible. We pray that no additional families will be affected, but stand prepared with volunteers and response teams ready and equipped to deploy as needed.”

If you'd like to donate funds, housing, transportation, clothing, shoes or building materials, you can drop them off at the ADRN Hope Family Thrift Store. The store is located at 1122 E. 51st Street. For more information, click here.
