AUSTIN — An Austin Police Department patrol vehicle caught fire late Thursday evening in East Austin, according to Austin Fire.
Austin Fire tweeted a photo of a fireman hosing off the vehicle. Fire officials told KVUE they responded to the incident at approximately 10:00 p.m.
AFD said the fire appeared to have started in the cargo area of the vehicle and was either caused or exacerbated by road flares.
The police officer who was driving the vehicle was evaluated by medics for minor injuries, AFD said.
