TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — A 25-year-old suspect is in custody after an officer-involved shooting in Sunset Valley.

According to Sunset Valley Police, the incident happened around 4 a.m. July 29. Officers were responding to an alarm that sounded at the Zales Outlet jewelry store located at 5601 Brodie Lane. After reviewing dash camera video, body camera video and Zales store video, the Travis County Sheriff's Office reported that the following then happened.

When the responding officer arrived, he found the front door of Zales shattered and Marc-Antonie Carrillo exiting the store, according to Sunset Valley Police. Authorities said that on Zales store video, Carrillo could be seen repeatedly striking the glass display cases inside the store. A small black tire lug wrench was later found in the shrubs directly in front of the store.

As Officer Oscar Lopez approached Carrillo, he repeatedly told him to show both his hands, but Carrillo allegedly ignored his commands and approached a vehicle parked in front of the store. After Carrillo got in the vehicle, authorities said the officer then tried to use a taser to stop him, but it was ineffective.

The officer said he was able to get his upper body inside the driver's side window. At this point, "Carrillo can be heard on the audio pleading to let him go home," the affidavit said.

Carrillo was able to key his key in the ignition and reverse the vehicle as the officer was hanging out of the car, according to authorities.

"As the vehicle came to a stop, Officer Lopez is able to then reach the ground and as he does he pulls his service weapon and fires one shot," the affidavit said.

Carrillo was shot in his right arm before he started to lead Travis County deputies on a chase.

The chase ended at the Weekly Motel located at 2433 State Highway 71. Carrillo was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and was later booked into Travis County Central Booking.

Officer Lopez has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The Travis County Sheriff's Office is now investigating the incident.

Carrillo has been charged with burglary, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
