Community, law enforcement come together for injured Round Rock officer Charles Whites

There was live music, barbecue, a silent auction, and even a car show at the event, all to show support for an officer who's given so much to the community he serves.

ROUND ROCK, Texas -- The Round Rock community came together again for the family of an injured police officer.

Hundreds of people showed up to a fundraiser benefiting Officer Charles Whites and his family at Allen R. Baca Senior Center in Round Rock Sunday afternoon.

Whites has been making a slow recovery since a driver hit him on Feb. 25, according to police. He was transferred to a rehabilitation facility in mid-March.

More than 30 vendors participated in the fundraiser, with many of them choosing to donate some of their proceeds to Whites' family.

"It means so much to us in law enforcement, and the public service industry in general, to see that the community comes out and supports us. Officer Whites gave so much to this community, and it's really nice to see the community coming out and giving back to him," Sgt. Marc Gray told KVUE.
