AUSTIN -- If you missed their reunion tour when it stopped in Austin a couple years ago, you're in luck because the Dixie Chicks' sin wagon is bound for Austin yet again.
The Mack, Jack & McConaughey Gala announced Tuesday that the Grammy Award-winning Dixie Chicks will headline the 2018 gala on April 12 at ACL Live at The Moody Theater.
The joint fundraising effort of actor Matthew McConaughey, country artist Jack Ingram and ESPN analyst and Texas coaching legend Mack Brown benefits organizations dedicated to children's education, health and wellness, including CureDuchenne, Dell Children’s Medical Center, HeartGift, the just keep livin foundation, and The Rise School of Austin.
“The Dixie Chicks are incredible artists and we are looking forward to their performance,” said McConaughey.
The trio -- made up of Natalie Maines, Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire -- is an American country and multi-platinum act. They have earned 13 Grammy Awards over the years and sold 30 million albums, earning them the title of the biggest selling all-female band in the U.S.
"Every year the music at MJ&M just gets better and better and this year is certainly no exception," added Ingram. "We are honored to have the Dixie Chicks headline the gala concert.”
The sixth annual two-day gala will continue on Friday, April 13, with a golf tournament at Spanish Oaks Golf Club. MJ&M will also host a fashion show and luncheon at JW Marriott with featured designs by Alice + Olivia. Friday wraps up with the Jack & Friends concert with performances by Patty Griffin, Butch Walker, John Fullbright and more.
"It's always fun to play in Texas and supporting this incredible charity event which empowers kids and saves lives, is an opportunity we are inspired to be a part of,” said Natalie Maines, lead vocalist of Dixie Chicks.
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 2, at 10 a.m. here.
