Officials identify man pulled from Lake Travis Saturday

Travis County officials said the life-saving measures performed on the man were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead Saturday evening.

LAKE TRAVIS — A man in his 40s died Saturday after he was pulled from the waters of Lake Travis, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office.

On Monday, he was identified as 46-year-old Juan Maldonado of Cedar Park.

TCSO said that at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, deputies responded to assist Lake Travis firefighters with a call about an unconscious swimmer who had been pulled out of the waters of Lake Travis and transferred by boat to Mansfield Dam Park, where CPR was performed on him.

Witnesses said Maldonado became distressed in the water and was pulled back up onto their boat. Travis County officials said the life-saving measures were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at 8:39 p.m. Saturday.

An investigation into the man's death is underway and additional details will be provided as they’re available, TCSO said. An autopsy was conducted on Aug. 19. Final results are pending.
