Police identify man killed after being hit by CapMetro bus, police say

Police said a man was hit by a CapMetro bus in Austin Thursday night while he was lying in the middle of the street.

AUSTIN — Austin police are investigating a deadly crash involving a CapMetro bus in Northeast Austin on Sept. 20.

On Sept. 27, officials identified the deceased as Andrew Sanchez, 29

According to preliminary investigation, police said it is unknown why the man was lying down in the westbound lanes. The bus was heading west on St. Johns Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. and was unable to see the man lying in the road. Officials said the bus did stay on scene and the driver cooperated.

Sanchez was pronounced dead on scene.

KVUE reached out to CapMetro for a statement Friday morning. Their reps told KVUE they don't have any comment to make right now.
