SH 45 in Pflugerville reopens after deadly crash investigation

A man died after he was hit by a vehicle on SH 45 in Pflugerville, Texas Sunday.

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Days after a Dripping Springs woman was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated before hitting and killing a pedestrian with her vehicle, Pflugerville police shut down the same road to gather more details Thursday.

Dawn Denny, 50, is charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Police said the crash happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday on SH 45 near the SH 130 flyover ramp. The pedestrian, identified in the release as Donald Alan Waller, 36, died at the scene. Police said Waller was working on his vehicle on the side of the road after it started having issues.

On Thursday police, said SH 45 was closed off to traffic as police worked to gather measurement data related to the crash, beginning at 10 a.m. The northbound flyover from SH 130 to SH 45 and the SH 45 flyover were both shut down as a precaution for investigators. All roadways reopened at around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
