Tennis legends Roger Federer, Andy Roddick team up for Austin benefit event

The tennis greats are teaming up Monday night to raise funds for the Austin-based Andy Roddick Foundation.

AUSTIN — Tennis legends Roger Federer and Andy Roddick are putting aside their rivalry, at least for one night.

Austin's Roddick is enlisting Federer for "Roger Comes to Austin," a benefit event for the Andy Roddick Foundation.

Roddick tweeted Monday a screenshot conversation with his pal, "Fed," saying he expects the night's conversation to go a little something like this:

"Hey Andy, hope all is good, I am on the way to the airport and so happy to come see you and support your foundation," said Fed. "See you in a few hours pal. Might be 10 late because I had to stop and get some boots and a cowboy hat [cowboy emoji]."

"If you're late, I'm leaving without you," Roddick replied. "And don't worry, you and Tony each have your own horse to ride around on for the day."

The event takes place at 6 p.m. Monday at the Paramount Theater in Austin. Federer, the winner of 20 Grand Slam titles, will entertain competitor and long-time friend Roddick with a conversation moderated by sports commentator and host Mary Carillo.

The Austin-based Andy Roddick Foundation aims to provide after-school and summer activities for kids in need.
