Tip leads to arrest of suspect allegedly caught punching man unconscious in San Marcos

San Marcos police said that after they posted the video, they received an anonymous tip that led them to the man allegedly seen in the video.

SAN MARCOS, Texas -- A Boerne man allegedly caught on video punching a man unconscious in the The Square in San Marcos mid-March has turned himself in, according to the city.

Bryan Albert Garcia, 34, has been charged with assault-bodily injury and turned himself in to the Hays County Jail early April 19.

San Marcos police said they received an anonymous tip in response to social media messages posted by the department. Garcia turned himself in after he found out that he had a warrant for his arrest.

In late March, police released the video that captured the March 10 incident. At around 12:24 a.m., a man is seen punching another man to the ground. The victim struck his head when he hit the ground, knocking him unconscious and causing him severe head trauma.

San Marcos police said the victim is still recovering from his injuries at home.
