A 6-inch water main break in the Barton Hills neighborhood of South Austin that left several homes without running water and caused traffic delays Tuesday morning has been restored.
Austin police reported the traffic hazard at 8:19 a.m. in the 2300 block of Barton Parkway, where water could be seen shooting up from the ground.
Austin Water said valve crews quickly isolated the break and began excavation, repairing the break. Both lanes at Homedale Drive were blocked off while officials investigated.
Officials could not confirm immediately the number of homes affected by the issue.
