AUSTIN, Texas — A preliminary investigation is ongoing after authorities found a body in Lake Austin on Tuesday.
Austin police were called out to Scenic Drive just before 8 p.m. regarding a high-priority welfare check.
Multiple bystanders reported seeing an unresponsive person floating in the water, which led to police, Austin-Travis County EMS (ACTEMS) and the Austin Fire Department responding to the lake.
ACTEMS said the person was found and pronounced dead at the scene before turning the investigation over to police. Police later identified the body as a Black man in his 60s with no apparent trauma.
Police said this is an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the public at this time.
