New filings show Apple prepared to spend $240M more on Austin campus expansion

The Austin Business Journal reports that the tech giant is planning to build two more large buildings.

AUSTIN, Texas — According to a report from the Austin Business Journal, Apple could be ready to start construction on two more buildings at its northwest Austin campus. The expansion would bring the total to an estimated $240 million for the new development.

The report states that on Jan. 6, an Apple construction filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation showed the company is planning to build a four-story building for $120 million. Then, a Jan. 9 filing showed a five-story building at double the price.

In its report, the Austin Business Journal noted that such filings are often preliminary and details are not final.

In August of last year, Austonia reported similar filings from the tech giant, amounting to three structures for an estimated $279 million.

Apple first announced plans for the northwest Austin campus near Parmer Lane back in December 2018.

Meanwhile, a $2 billion mixed-use development is also planned for the area. Dubbed Pearson Ranch, the development will be located just off of West Parmer Lane and State Highway 45.
