AUSTIN, Texas — Unemployment in the Austin-Round Rock area is down to 5.1% compared to 6.3% in September. But with COVID-19 cases on the rise, experts are predicting more job losses are likely.
In a continuous effort to help rebuild our community, KVUE is continuing our "Who's Hiring?" series. On Sunday, we spoke with Trellis Company about its more than 20 available positions.
Trellis Company is a call center organization located in Round Rock. Its goal is to help student borrowers successfully repay their education loans and promote access and success in higher education.
The nonprofit was just chosen as one the Austin American Statesman's "Top Workplaces" in the Austin area.
"We're a large company, have just over 500 employees, but yet it's very much like a family," said Linda Hackleman, Trellis Company's vice president of human resources.
Trellis Company is currently filling five professional positions and more than 20 entry-level positions at its subsidiary company, Waypoint Resource Group.
Trellis Company is looking for:
- Senior network systems engineer
- Qualitative researcher
- Senior research analysis
- Director of compliance
Hackleman said all of these positions are full-time, include benefits and the pay is competitive.
Trellis Company's subsidiary company, Waypoint Resource Group, is hiring more than 20 call center specialists. Pay starts at $14 per hour with the possibility of monthly bonuses.
"What we're really looking for is someone who has that customer service skills," Trellis Recruiting Specialist Carol Walsdorf said. "Who can smile through the phone, who can really connect with our customers. We can teach you how to use our software system, how to use our operating system. "
The organization has been in operation since 1979. Hackleman said dedication to employees' wellbeing is what keeps the company thriving.
"And not only that, their happiness at work, that makes a difference to us as an organization and also as a good fit," Hackleman said. "That's really important because we don't want it to feel like a job. We want it to feel like a natural extension of something that they enjoy doing."
