Austin's Barton Creek Greenbelt reopens after storms

Due to floodwaters and debris on the Barton Creek Greenbelt, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department closed the trail until it was determined to be safe again. On Friday, the department said the Greenbelt could reopen.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Parks and Recreation Department has reopened Barton Creek Greenbelt after it was closed Thursday due to severe storms.

The heavy rain and high winds caused erosion and debris on the trail. The park department said there are still areas of standing water, so the public is asked to be careful.

Barton Creek will also be closed until further notice due to the rapidly moving water. Barton Springs Pool will remain closed Friday due to the flooding.
