SAN ANTONIO -- A man police say defaced the state's most treasured landmark is behind bars. Stephen Wise was arrested Wednesday morning for writing on the Alamo.
Police said the letters "l-c-c" were scribbled on the north wall. They have since been wiped clean.
Wise is from Illinois, and claims he did it as part of an art project. He is now facing charges of defacing a historical site.
Bexar County Jail records indicate Wise was released at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.
