If you're planning to take your boat out to the lake for the weekend, you might want to check on different ramps because a drought is forcing ramp closures.
It was a day fishing for Chad Beall and his family.
"It can be concerning but I can't do anything about it," said Beall. "It's just how the world and the environment works."
Officials with the Lower Colorado River Authority said hot weather and high water usage are to blame for the water levels at Lake Travis, which are seven feet below average for this time of the year.
Gloster Bend, Camp Creek Park, Cypress Creek, and Muleshoe Bend boat ramps were all closed as of July 6.
The Arkansas Bend ramp was also closed, but because of repairs rather than low water levels.
Officials said water levels at Lake Travis are expected to go down more in the next few months due to the hot weather.
"It's unfortunate but there's nothing we can do about it," Beall explained.
