Court documents: What led up to former Longhorn T'Vondre Sweat's DWI arrest

Police said the crash involved a blue Dodge sports car and an orange Ford Bronco, which Sweat was driving.

AUSTIN, Texas — Former Longhorn T’Vondre Sweat was involved in a crash with another vehicle before being arrested and charged with DWI in Austin on Sunday, court documents reveal.

According to an affidavit obtained by KVUE, officers responded to reports of a crash in the 13600 block of North Interstate 35 southbound, in the Tech Ridge area, around 4:40 a.m.

Police said the crash involved a blue Dodge sports car and an orange Ford Bronco, which Sweat was driving. The people inside the Bronco told police the blue Dodge crashed into the back of the Bronco, causing it to lose control and go to the right. The Bronco ended up on its side on the service road.

Following the crash, Sweat was found to be intoxicated and admitted to drinking two to three shots of tequila, the affidavit said.

Sweat was arrested just before 2:15 p.m. on Sunday and was booked into the Travis County Jail, according to jail records. His bond was set at $3,000.

The 22-year-old Huntsville native won the 2023 Outland Trophy, given to the nation's top interior lineman, and was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He has been projected to be picked in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft, which is scheduled to be held in Detroit from April 25-27.

A court hearing on the case is set for April 29.
