ROUND ROCK, Texas — The Round Police Department said a threat to place explosive devices along Round Rock trails on Saturday was false.

A person made those terroristic threats online, police said. After further investigation, the department determined the posts are false and there is no threat to the public.

The posts are believed to be a case of “swatting,” where a false report is made in order to provoke a police response.

The Round Rock Police Department said it will continue to investigate the source of the threat and take action against those responsible for the false reports.
