AUSTIN, Texas — Hannah Rucker is a news and traffic anchor for KVUE Daybreak, helping you rise and shine Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 7 a.m. She also has a weekly series on Daybreak called Forever Families, where every Thursday morning she highlights a child in the Texas foster care system in need of adoption.
You will rarely see her without a smile or a full cup of coffee, but she realizes not everyone is a morning person at heart.
As a Native Texan, she takes deep pride in telling stories in the capital of her beloved home state.
Originally from Dallas, she's a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, win or lose.
She graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where she still regularly visits for a refreshing jump in the river on a hot afternoon.
She comes from a family of musicians who all now live in the Austin area. Every week, she goes to watch them play. She grew up singing next to the piano at home.
She got her start in Lubbock, Texas, at KLBK News as a reporter. Her beat was poverty and she spent a lot of time in low-income neighborhoods covering the daily challenges those families face to get food on the table. After her time in Lubbock, she moved to South Carolina to work at WBTW in Myrtle Beach as a reporter and anchor. She extensively covered several hurricanes, including the devastating damage left by Hurricane Florence in September 2018.
Hannah loves spicy food and is always looking for a new restaurant to try in this foodie town.
Be sure to say hello if you ever see her out and about, as she loves meeting viewers! You can also say hi by sending her an email or following her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
