AUSTIN – Monty Oum, an Austin-based filmmaker working for Rooster Teeth Productions, died Sunday according to a blog post on the company's website.

Rooster Teeth CEO Matt Hullum said on their site that Oum, 33, passed away shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday "surrounded by people who loved him very much."

Hullum said Oum suffered a severe allergic reaction during a medical procedure and fell into a coma. Following a statement on Rooster Teeth's website Friday, the company's fans raised more than $195,000 for medical care as of Monday afternoon.

Oum worked on the company's 'Red vs. Blue' series for three seasons before creating the anime series 'RWBY,' which the company announced Sunday was available on Netflix.

Hullum also said in his statement:

"As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to."

Rooster Teeth, who frequently posts content to their website and YouTube channels, announced on Twitter they would not release any of their regularly scheduled videos, but did post a video from their channel 'The Know' announcing his death.
