After battling rampaging dinosaurs twice before, Dr. Ian Malcolm is jumping back into the fray!
Jeff Goldblum has signed on to appear the upcoming Jurassic World 2, the fifth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Goldblum originated his iconic Dr. Malcolm character in the original Jurassic Park in 1993, and reprised the role in 1997's The Lost World: Jurassic Park, in which he starred as the central hero.
The 64-year-old actor was not involved in 2001's Jurassic Park III, or the most-recent mega-blockbuster Jurassic World, which went on to earn $1.6 billion worldwide, and is the fourth highest-grossing movie of all time.
The extent of Goldblum's role in Jurassic World 2 has not yet been revealed.
Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are also returning for the hotly anticipated sequel, which will be directed by J. A. Bayona, who recently helmed the acclaimed fantasy drama A Monster Calls.
Colin Trevorrow, who co-wrote and directed the first Jurassic World, penned the screenplay for the sequel, alongside returning co-writer Derek Connolly.
Jurassic World 2 is set to stampede into theaters on June 22, 2018.
Goldblum will next be seen in Thor: Ragnarok, in which he stars as the cosmic being Grandmaster, who oversees the gladiatorial battles on the planet Sakaar. Check out the epic trailer below for a look at the exciting upcoming Marvel romp, which hits theaters Nov. 3.
