'Art City Austin' celebrates its 69th year showcasing arts, artists, creativity

Artist David Bjurstrom's detailed drawings are some of things you will see at the event.

AUSTIN, Texas — Art Alliance Austin supports and contributes to the growth, prominence and sustainability of Austin’s art scene. This weekend, the organization celebrates “Art City Austin,” a family-friendly festival showcasing artists’ work.

David Bjurstrom is an award-winning local artist who was first inspired to pursue art as a career in the seventh grade. His highly-detailed drawings range from landscapes to animals and still life. Bjurstrom will be showing some of his work at Art City Austin.

The event will have more than 80 artists, including culinary artists, commissioned pieces and live performances. Guests have access to guided gallery tours and artist talks around town during the weekend.

Art Alliance Austin board member Jade Walker explains the importance of events like this by saying, “Artists need outlets. They need to be able to show their work in town and people that are here in town need to know what gems we have in terms of our artist community, so it’s a chance for that to happen.”

The festival takes place Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14, at Republic Square. For more information about the events, or to purchase tickets, click here
