AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Police Department (APD) officers arrested three people and responded to hundreds of calls for service during this year's Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL).
APD said it focused its efforts during the festival on past issues like thefts and overdoses. Overall, the department said the numbers for this year were "a drastic decrease" from years past.
Weekend 1 stats
APD said during Weekend 1 of ACL, officers arrested two people for incidents at Zilker Park – one for Evading on Foot and the other for a Request to Apprehend.
Additionally, APD officers responded to 225 calls for service and took 70 offense reports. Officers took a total of 44 "theft from person reports" and of those, all but two were for cellphone thefts.
Weekend 2 stats
During Weekend 2, APD officers arrested one person for Assault with Injury.
They also responded to 148 calls for service and took 55 offense reports. Officers took 33 theft from person reports, including 23 for cellphone thefts.
