AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL) is still more than half a year away, but music fans are already itching to know who will be playing at Zilker Park this October.
In March, Lollapalooza – which is put on by C3 Presents, the same Austin-based company that produces ACL – released its 2024 lineup. SZA, Blink-182, The Killers, Hozier and Tyler, The Creator are all among the headliners who will bring the music to Chicago's Grant Park from Aug. 1-4.
Now festival-goers are wondering: when will ACL release its 2024 lineup?
Recently, the answer has been May. In 2023, the festival released its lineup on May 9. In 2022, it was May 10. In 2021, the lineup came out on May 20. And, of course, the fest was virtual-only in 2020.
And ACL is sticking with the May tradition this year: the lineup will be announced on Tuesday, May 7.
While those hoping to find out who will hit the stages at Zilker Park this fall have to wait a little longer, the Lollapalooza lineup might be a good indicator.
The festivals' lineups frequently have crossover. For example, SZA, who is playing in Chicago this year, played in Austin in 2022, and her fellow Lollapalooza 2024 headliner played ACL last year. Zach Bryan played both festivals in 2022, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers played ACL that year, then Lollapalooza in 2023. Kendrick Lamar played both festivals last year.
This year's ACL Fest will be held Oct. 4-6 and 11-13. A presale was held in December, but those who wish to attend can currently join waitlists for all ticket tiers.
