AUSTIN — Shawn Mendes brought in tens of thousands of fans at his first Austin City Limits performance Sunday, including a few Texas Longhorns players.
The 20-year-old Canadian rocked songs from three of his albums, as well as a couple of cover songs during his ACL show on the Honda stage. The singer showcased his musical talents by rotating through a line of guitars and playing on a piano.
Mendes' performance started off with his hit "There's Nothin' Holding Me Back," which he first debuted back in 2016 on his Illuminate album. The pop star also surprised screaming fans by running through an aisle in the crowd, high-fiving many crying teens.

The young heartthrob topped off his killer ACL performance by singing several of his top hits, including "Mercy," "In My Blood," "Stitches," "Treat You Better" and more. He also used his vocal talents to sing an amazing cover of Frank Ocean's "Thinkin' Bout You" and "Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon.
Towards the end of his show, Mendes said performing at the ACL Fest has always been a "dream" of his, but for many, their own dreams came true seeing him take that Austin stage, myself included.
