AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin legend made a surprise appearance at the Austin City Limits (ACL) music festival Friday night.
To the surprise of the crowd, Willie Nelson appeared with Chris Stapleton at the beginning of the country music star's set on the American Express stage. Nelson stuck around and performed the first two songs of the set with Stapleton.
The music legend is set to perform on Oct. 17 at Austin’s Long Center for the Performing Arts to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Austin City Limits program's first ever broadcast. Nelson was the first performer the show featured, and has appeared more times than any other performer, having made 18 appearances.
