Austin Film Festival returns for its 30th year

The 8-day film festival includes a 4-day conference, with year-round events, a young filmmakers program and more.

AUSTIN, Texas — The countdown is on for the 30th annual Austin Film Festival (AFF). It begins on Thursday, Oct. 26.

The festival is the host to the largest screenwriters conference globally made up of various writers, filmmakers and artists.

AFF has announced the screenings to be included in its 2023 film slate, which will take place Oct. 26 through Nov. 2.

This year includes new world premieres like drama "Re: Uniting" and Texas film "ImPossible." In addition, AFF will screen "The Problem with People," written by and starring Paul Reiser, who will be in attendance and speak at the Writers Conference.

Barbara Morgan, chief executive officer of the Austin Film Festival, said the goal is to bring in a lot of showrunners and people who have created different shows and films, and that's what keeps the popularity growing every year.

"That's what keeps bringing people back. We actually highlight all of our competitor screenwriters from around the world and we try to help them break into the industry," Morgan said.
