AUSTIN, Texas — If you're looking to learn or simply take in a little culture, this Sunday might be just the time to do so.

On Sept. 22, you can get into more than 30 Austin-area museums for free as part of the 27th Annual Austin Museum Day, organized by the Austin Museum Partnership. The museums will welcome visitors with special programming, including guided and self-guided exhibition tours, activities and more.

The goal of the event is to encourage Austinites to explore the museums the city has to offer.

“A lot of our museums can be smaller and there are just so many that people don’t know about and I guarantee for any niche interest someone has, there is a museum in Austin that speaks to that," Catherine Whited, co-chair of the Austin Museum Partnership, told Community Impact. "Even for people who have lived in Austin their whole lives, I guarantee there's a place on the list of Austin Museum Day they haven't visited yet and I really recommend that they go check it out.”
