AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is upon us and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From SXSW day parties to St. Patrick's Day, there's no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.
Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.
South by San José isn't quite as old as South by Southwest (SXSW) itself, but it's close. The first SXSW as held in 1987 and the first South by San José was held a little over a decade later, making this its 25th year. As always, the "always and forever free" event will feature a stacked lineup of live music, local vendors and more.

There are also tons of other free SXSW day parties happening through this weekend. Here are just a few:
- Far Out Free Fest – Friday at The Far Out Lounge and Stage
- Waterloo Records Day Parties – through Friday at Waterloo Records
- KUTX Live at Scholz Garten – through Saturday at Scholz Garten
- Out by South East – through Sunday at Meanwhile Brewing
- St. Elmo By St. Elmo – through Sunday at St. Elmo Brewing Co.
SXSW will also host its free SXSW Community Concerts at Lady Bird Lake this weekend. The performances will be held at Auditorium Shores on Thursday and Friday and at Palm Door on Saturday. Learn more.
St. Patrick's Day events
Looking for St. Patrick's Day celebrations where you can indulge in some green booze, Irish food and live music? Have no fear: there are a lot of St. Patty's festivities scheduled for Sunday.
Here's a list of just a few local events:
- St. Patrick's Day at B.D. Riley's – starting at 11 a.m. at B.D. Riley's Irish Pub (1905 Aldrich St. #130)
- St. Patrick's Day Irish Dance Festival – from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mozart's Coffee Roasters (3825 Lake Austin Blvd.)
- St. Patrick's Day Party – from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Vista Brewing (13551 Ranch to Market Road 150 in Driftwood)
- St. Pat's Day Party – starting at 11 a.m. at Draught House Pub & Brewery (4112 Medical Parkway)
- Grillo's Pickles Presents: Chill Out, Eat a Pickle Party – starting at noon at Hotel Vegas (1502 E. Sixth St.)
- St. Patrick's Day 2024 with Whiskey on a Sunday and Think Lizzy – from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Central Machine Works (4824 E. Cesar Chavez St.)
- Luck of the Irish St. Patrick's Day Event – from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Hill Country Galleria (12700 Hill Country Blvd. in Bee Cave)
Lustre Pearl East will host Pride Bite's 8th Annual Puppy Party on Sunday afternoon. The dog-friendly celebration benefits Save An Angel and will feature dog-forward vendors, Tito's Handmade Vodka cocktails, adoptable dogs, dog toy giveaways, photo ops and more.
