AUSTIN, Texas — In the midst of all the South by Southwest chaos, an event centered around empowering women took place Sunday in Downtown Austin for its second year in a row.
Create & Cultivate, which was founded by Jaclyn Johnson, is an event that is geared to "help women cultivate the career of their dreams."
The event featured panels of inspiring speakers ranging from influencers to well-known actors such as Natasha Lyonne, who is best known for her role as Nicky Nichols in Orange is the New Black.
During her panel, Lyonne discussed embracing your imperfections, the power of diversity and how it's a great time to be a woman in the film industry.
Some of the other speakers included Tan France, Camila Alves, and influencers such as Dani Austin and Jessi Afshin, to name a couple.

Johnson explained to KVUE why it was important to have the event take place during SXSW.
"Women are looking for safe spaces where they can have real conversations about building their businesses," Johnson explained. "We want to show up in ways when we know people are here and having these amazing conversations already."
When it comes to creating a business from the ground up, Johnson said it's key to be your own motivation.
"When you run your own business, you have to be your biggest hype women," Johnson said. "You have to be your best friend and your worst critique all the time to keep pushing yourself forward."
If you missed out on attending this event, you're in luck! Create and Cultivate will be launching a membership program to reach more women. The membership, which launches on April 2, will allow members to watch panels from home, download guides and participate in digital mentor sessions.
