AUSTIN, Texas — On Tuesday, Float Fest announced it is moving off the water to the Germania Insurance Amphitheater at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin.
Years ago, the festival was held in San Marcos, but it's had a complicated last few years. After a permitting issue, Float Fest moved to Gonzales in 2019. But that same year, the event was canceled.
It was canceled again in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, and plans were never released for the event in 2021. Then in July 2022, Float Fest finally held its first – and, as it turns out, last – event in Gonzales.
The fest's move to COTA this year will also mark a change in its format.
In previous years, attendees were able to float on a river while they listened to live music. Now, music fans won't be able to float during Float Fest, but the festivals says ticketholders can get a discount at Texas State Tubes on the San Marcos River. The optional add-on pass can be redeemed anytime between Sept. 5 and Sept. 15.
Float Fest itself will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, and will feature performances by Lil Wayne, The Kid LAROI, Jessie Murph, Anella Herim, Preston Wayne and more.
Ticket presale begins on Wednesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. Tickets will go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, on Ticketmaster.com.
Tickets start at $49 for general admission. Pit tickets closest to the stage start at $249, and Float Fest will also offer a VIP upgrade to all ticket types for $99. Learn more on the festival's website.
