AUSTIN, Texas — Since 2021, Juneteenth has been honored as a federal holiday in the U.S. Sometimes called "Freedom Day," it marks the moment when the last group of slaves were freed in the U.S., specifically in Texas.
While the holiday is officially celebrated on June 19, a lot of festivals and celebrations are scheduled leading up to the date across Central Texas.
