AUSTIN, Texas — You can now take a trip back in time to the supercontinent of Pangea, right here in Austin – at least, sort of.
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center has installed nearly a dozen animatronic dinosaurs as part of its "Dinosaurs Around the World" exhibit, in place through July 17.
The exhibit is produced by Imagine Exhibitions and was created in collaboration with Dr. Gregory M. Erickson, a world-renowned dinosaur paleontologist. Created to take guests on a Jurassic adventure, it includes the T. rex of North America and the Herrerasaurus, one of the Earth’s first dinosaurs, among others.
"We’re all fascinated by these amazing creatures that once called our planet home," Lee Clippard, executive director of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, said. "So we’re incredibly excited to see them come to life in our gardens and on our trails."
Tickets to "Dinosaurs Around the World" are included with the purchase of regular Garden admission through July 17, and the exhibit is free for members. On select evenings, the Wildflower Center will also host "Dino Nite" events, where attendees can grab a flashlight and experience a Dino Disco, Excavation Station, cotton candy and more.
The Wildflower Center, located at 4801 La Crosse Ave., is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
