AUSTIN, Texas — Driving in Downtown Austin on Sunday won't be fun.
You can expect road closures starting at 3 a.m. on Sunday for the annual Capitol 10K race. These closures begin near the start line, which is on the South Congress bridge over Lady Bird Lake.
Two major streets that will be closed are South Congress and Barton Springs Road. These are just two of the many road closures the area will experience.

An alternate route to consider in the area is Red River Street for northbound and southbound downtown traffic. Though, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 a.m., navigating through the downtown area will be difficult as the race routes through various Austin neighborhoods, including Shoal Creek.
Roads will reopen on a rolling schedule following the last participant. They should be back open at about 11 a.m. Sunday.
Drivers not participating in the race are advised to avoid the area Sunday morning into early afternoon, if possible.
