Unique volunteer opportunity with South by Southwest

SXSW is searching for volunteers from across the country for its March 4-7 EDU event, as well as the Conference and Festivals, March 8-16.

AUSTIN, Texas — One of Texas' largest festivals celebrating music, film and culture will return this spring.

South by Southwest (SXSW) is scheduled to begin in March, and the organization is currently searching for volunteers age 18 or older – not just from Texas, but across the U.S.

From March 4 to March 7, SXSW EDU will focus on education with an emphasis on social issues. From March 8 to March 16, the SXSW Conference and Festivals will showcase a range of entertainment opportunities.

Those interested in volunteering for day and/or night positions can choose from a variety of crew roles, including accessibility, ambassadors, exhibitions and more.

First-time volunteers are encouraged to attend one of two Volunteer Call Dates, both located at the Austin Convention Center's first floor Ballroom ABC, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St.

The first call date is set for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 21. The second date is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 22. Both meetings will last about an hour.

Those who have previously volunteered should look for a sign-up email in early January with more information.

Following call dates, all previous and future volunteers can go to sxsw.com/volunteer or contact volunteer@sxsw.com to sign up.

A total of at least 24 volunteer hours are required.

Visit SXSW's website for additional festival information.
