'Willie's Joint' pop-up shops to appear during SXSW 2019

Three different pop-up stores will open to sell merchandise from Willie Nelson's "Willie's Reserve" and "Willie's Remedy" lines.

AUSTIN, Texas — Would it really be South by Southwest without a bit of Willie Nelson?

On three dates during the SXSW festival, Nelson's crew will be opening up "Willie's Joint," a pop-up shop to showcase his line of cannabis products. You'll be able to find Willie's Reserve and Willie's Remedy merchandise, a few other product debuts and limited-edition collectibles.

The dates will include:

  • March 11 at Lazy Daze Counter Culture from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 607 San Jacinto Blvd. Special guest Shawn Hauser, American Hemp Campaign, will appear at 3 p.m.
  • March 14 at Luck Reunion in Spicewood, Texas, from 11 a.m. to close. There will be special guests throughout the day.
  • March 16 at Lazy Daze Counter Culture from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 607 San Jacinto Blvd. Special guest Matt Bizer, Luck Journal, will appear at 3 p.m.

Elizabeth Hogan is the vice president of brand development for the company that oversees Nelson's companies. She said getting to interact with people from Austin during SXSW is something her team enjoys.

"Austin is one of our absolute favorite places to bring Willie's Reserve or Willie's Remedy because everybody knows exactly what we're talking about," Hogan said. "We love it. We love how open-minded everybody is -- the curiosity, the interest and the great dialogue about whats going on."

Hogan said bringing these products to Austin wasn't just about SXSW. Her team met with some legislators Monday afternoon to discuss the upcoming changes happening in other states related to legalizing cannabis products.

"We want people here to have that experience and know it's a great experience so that everybody speaks up and speaks out and makes Texas the next state to get legalized," Hogan said.

Willie's Remedy includes hemp-infused coffee, which you can learn about here.

“The Willie’s Remedy line is a purposeful departure from Willie’s Reserve,” Annie Nelson, Willie's wife, said in a press release. “It’s not about getting high, but it’s still all about Willie and the benefits we believe cannabis has to offer. Willie and I are proud to offer quality, American-sourced hemp wellness options for people of his generation, our kids’ generation and everyone in between.”
