AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is upon us and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From '00s trivia to drag brunches, there's no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.
Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.
Kick off the weekend with some Thursday events
Thursday night is kind-of already the weekend, right? You can get the fun started early with a few unique events happening around town.
Book lovers can head to Blue Owl Brewing for a book exchange in honor of "Book Lover's Day" from 7 to 9 p.m. Bring a book to exchange and leave with a new read.
If you wish you could time-travel back to era of bling rap and flip phones, you may crush the competition at Get It Games' "I Love the 2000s Trivia" at Z'Tejas Avery Ranch from 7 to 9 p.m. And if you're not super familiar with "The Simple Life," "Disney Movies Trivia" might be more for you. That one will also be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Vintage Bookstore & Wine Bar.
Speaking of '00s nostalgia, you can also catch "Ocean's Eleven" Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.
As for live music, as usual, the Long Center for the Performing Arts will also be hosting its free outdoor concert series The Drop-in at 8 p.m. This week's artists are Alesia Lani and Elijah Delgado.
Meanwhile, Blue October, Swiftchfoot and Matt Nathanson will be playing the Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels starting at 5 p.m.
Austin Pride Parade and Festival
It's time for Austin Pride! While most cities celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride in June, Austin celebrates in August.
This year's parade will be held on Saturday starting at 8 p.m. As always, it will begin at the Texas Capitol building, make its way down Congress Avenue and conclude in the Warehouse District. Also as usual, there is no cost to attend the parade and it is open to the public.
Meanwhile, tickets to the festival, which begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fiesta Gardens, cost $10 for kids ages 7 to 17 and $20 for adults.
Keep Pride going with Sunday drag brunches
The Pride party doesn't have to end Saturday night. Drag brunches are an Austin staple most Sundays and are one way to keep the celebration going. Here are a few of the brunches scheduled for this weekend:
