Hide from the heat at the movies

If sweating in the sun, surrounded by tens of thousands of others, isn't your thing, you can always catch a couple of the classic films screening at air-conditioned theaters around town.

First, the Austin Film Society is showing "The Song Remains the Same," the Led Zeppelin concert film from 1976, in 35mm on both Thursday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, Coco Coquette and Roxy Midnite will host cult classic "Death Becomes Her" at the EastSide Movie Theater at the Millennium on Friday night, complete with a costume contest.

And as part of its "Alamo Time Capsule 1984" series, the Alamo Drafthouse will screen "A Nightmare on Elm Street" Friday night at its Village and Slaughter Lane and Sunday night at its Lakeline theater. But the horror fun doesn't stop there: the Drafthouse will also host a "Shaun of the Dead" Movie Party at Village and Slaughter Lane on Saturday and Lakeline and Mueller on Sunday. Props include an inflatable cricket bat and a name tag.
