Things to do in the Austin area this weekend: Creek Show, Texas Book Fest and more

Here's a look at some of the events going on in the Austin area this weekend.

AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is here and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From bulls to books, there's no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.

Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.

Bulls in the Ballpark

If you're looking for a little yee-haw fun this weekend, look no further than Bulls in the Ballpark. For two nights, Dell Diamond will turn into a rodeo arena as tough cowboys face off against fierce bulls. Event attendees will also get to see mutton bustin' in action during both nights.

When: Friday and Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.

Where: Dell Diamond, located at 3400 E. Palm Valley Blvd. in Round Rock

Texas Book Fest

The 28th annual Texas Book Festival will be held this weekend in and round the Texas State Capitol. The festival is free and open to all and will feature more than 300 authors. Learn more about how to attend, check out a full schedule of events and take a look at the full author lineup.

Oh, and there's also Lit Crawl. The festival describes the event – which will take place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Daydreamer, Ginbar, Saddle Up and Vintage Bookstore & Wine Bar – as "unconventional literary program and games in a crawl through your favorite Austin bars."

When: Festival runs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Texas State Capitol, Central Presbyterian Church, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and more

Creek Show

Creek Show is back! The free annual event hosted at Waterloo Park by the Waterloo Greenway Conservancy features illuminated art installations, including six new light-based pieces created by local artists. The kickoff party is Friday night, and the show will be held each night after through Saturday, Nov. 18.

And it's not all about the lights. Creek Show also includes other activities like nightly live music, food and beverages and more. Check out a full rundown of the events.

When: starts Friday and runs through Nov. 18

Where: Waterloo Greenway, located at 1111 Red River St.
