Things to do in the Austin area this weekend: See a tribute band, catch the Harlem Globetrotters and more

Here's a look at some of the events going on in the Austin area this weekend.

AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is here and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From tribute bands to tricky basketball, there's no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.

Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.

Pre-Valentine's events

Valentine's Day is still more than a week away, but that doesn't mean you can't start treating your sweetheart – or yourself! – now. Several Austin spots are hosting pre-Valentine's events this weekend.

Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive-in is getting a head-start on the heartwarming holiday with screenings of "Say Anything," "The Notebook," "The Princess Bride," "Casablanca" and more. Check out what's showing at Blue Starlite's Central and Downtown locations.

Meanwhile, if you're looking to get something sweet for your honey, your friends or yourself, you have two opportunities to shop this weekend. In North Austin, Brentwood Social House is hosting a Valentine's Market on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. And in southeast Austin, Meanwhile Brewing Co. is hosting a Pre-Valentine's Day Market starting at noon on Sunday.

Tribute acts

While it's not possible to see ABBA, The Beatles or Bob Marley anymore, you can get kind-of close this weekend.

MANIA, an ABBA tribute celebration, will make a stop at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre this Saturday at 8 p.m., bringing all the glitter and pop hooks you could ask for. Then the very next night, The Fab Four – an Emmy Award-winning tribute band dedicated to, well, The Fab Four – will hit the same stage to play note-for-note renditions of The Beatles' biggest hits.

Meanwhile, Bob Marley fans can attend the "Bob Marley's Earthstrong Reggae Concert" event Saturday at Flamingo Cantina. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and the concert will feature tribute sets from the Mau Mau Chaplains, Hail Marley! and Jah Bill.

In more of a dance- or sing-along mood? Swan Dive is hosting a Pitbull Party and The Hide Out is hosting a Selena Sing-a-Long Show.

Harlem Globetrotters

They're a classic for a reason. The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will dribble and dunk their way into the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park this Sunday at 3 p.m. Doors open at 2 p.m., and tickets are still available.

Last month, KVUE Daybreak's Rob Evans caught up with a Globetrotter ahead of the team's stops in Cedar Park and Austin (on Feb. 8):
