Things to do in the Austin area this weekend: We Luv Video's birthday party, a Taylor Swift roller skating night and more

AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is upon us and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From a birthday party for a video store to a Taylor Swift-themed roller skating event, there's no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.

Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.

We Luv Video turns 1

Once dead, then resurrected and now celebrating a year back in business, We Luv Video is hosting a birthday party on Saturday.

The video rental store-turned-video rental co-op is inviting fans to a daylong block party on North Loop on Saturday, including exclusive merch, vendors, food, DJ performances, a film-themed drag performance and more.

When and where: Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. at We Luv Video, located at 100 North Loop Blvd., Unit A

Taylor Swift Night at Playland

If "the Eras Tour but on roller skates" is a phrase that appeals to you, Playland Skate Center has the perfect event this weekend. Sunday's multi-hour "Taylor Swift Roller Skate Party" will include friendship bracelet making and trading and, of course, Swift songs all night long. Eras-inspired outfits are encouraged. 

Online ticket sales are closed, but tickets will be available for $20 at the door.

When and where: Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. at Playland Skate Center, located at 8822 McCann Drive

"Blade Runner" screenings

If you've been meaning to watch Ridley Scott's science fiction noir classic "Blade Runner," this weekend is a great time because you have multiple options to catch "The Final Cut."

AFS Cinema will be showing the extended version of the film in 35mm, with deleted scenes restored by the director, Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1:15 p.m. Meanwhile, the Paramount Theatre will also be screening "The Final Cut" on Saturday at 7 p.m.
