Things to do in the Austin area this weekend: Creek Show, Broken Spoke's anniversary party and more

Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend in Central Texas this weekend.

AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is upon us and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From an Austin tradition to party celebrating an Austin institution, there's no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.

Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.

Creek Show

Creek Show is back for its 10th anniversary starting this weekend! The roughly week-long event features site-specific artwork commissioned from Austin-based artists, architects, landscape architects and designers. As part of the event, there will also be a series of light-based immersive art pieces along Waller Creek.

This year's Creek Show will require an online reservation to attend and will offer a variety of free and low-cost admission options. 

When: Starts Friday at 6 p.m. and runs through Saturday, Nov. 16

Where: Waterloo Park, located at 500 E. 12th St.

Broken Spoke's 60th Anniversary Party

This weekend, an Austin institution is celebrating 60 years in business. On Saturday, Broken Spoke will hold a birthday bash featuring music from longtime residence artist Alvin Crow. 

But the celebration doesn't stop there. The dance hall will actually be celebrating its anniversary with a packed schedule of performances all month long.

When: Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, followed by a party until 1 a.m.

Where: Broken Spoke, located at 3201 S Lamar Blvd.

"Encanto": The Sing-Along Film Concert

Looking for something fun for the whole family? The cross-national "Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert" will make a stop at Bass Concert Hall on Sunday afternoon. The event features a screening of the film accompanied by a live band performing all the music.

Fans are encouraged to dress up like their favorite Madrigal family members and along to hits like "We Don't Talk About Bruno."

When: Sunday at 3 p.m.

Where: Bass Concert Hall, located at 2350 Robert Dedman Drive
