HAYS COUNTY, Texas — The Hays County Commissioners Court has joined the "50 Locations in 50 Days Challenge" to register properties in the county with the Texas Film Commission.
The goal is to increase the movie and TV filming locations throughout the county by registering 50 new locations in 50 days between July 13 and September 2.
According to a proclamation issued by the court, the total economic impact of the movie and TV industry in Hays and Caldwell counties from 2008 to 2016 amounted to more than $26 million.

Buda, Kyle, Dripping Springs and San Marcos have all been certified as "Film Friendly Cities," bestowed by the Texas Film Commission.
"Boyhood," "Tree of Life," "The Getaway," "The Newton Boys," "Piranha" and "Idiocracy" were filmed in Hays County and the TV show "American Crime" was filmed at the Hays County Government Center.
All types of properties are eligible to be registered as filming locations. Members of the San Marcos Cinema Club will take photos of your property and upload them to the Texas Film Commission's portfolio website free of charge.
