AUSTIN, Texas — Anastasia Hera is a singer/songwriter, rap artist and creator. She got into music at a young age. She started by making songs with her friends when she was five or six, and started rapping at age 12.
“I kicked off my artist career about 10 years ago, so long enough to say that I have some experience in the game, but recent enough to say that I’ve got a lot to learn,” said Hera.
Hera experienced music at church parties, school, choirs and bands, and pulls influence from everywhere.
“It doesn’t matter what century it’s from. If it appeals to me, I can somehow filter it into what I do, because to me, that’s the beauty of it. We take bits and pieces from everywhere to craft our own sound,” said Hera.
Hera writes about her life, human conditions and feelings that everyone feels including love, fear, guilt and pain. She said it’s her job to take all those things, set them to music and let people relate.
She plays with her band, Anastasia Hera and The Heroes. They’ve been together for about a year and started by doing live streams and creating content during the pandemic.
Hera is performing July 28, at Geraldine’s. You can learn more about her and her upcoming shows at her website here.
