AUSTIN, Texas — A baby bald eagle has been reunited with its parents!
After last week's severe storms knocked down a tree branch, the eagle was brought to Austin Wildlife Rescue (AWR). The group said it was "a first of its kind."
When the group first saw the eagle, it was dehydrated and hungry, so AWR provided it with the water and food it needed.
The people who brought the eagle to AWR clarified that its parents were still in the area where the branch fell, prompting the group to coordinate with a game warden from Texas Parks and Wildlife to make sure the baby eagle was re-nested.
AWR said it created a makeshift nest from a laundry basket and nesting materials and put it about 25 to 30 feet up in a tree next to the one the nest had been in, securing it with rope and zip ties.
A few days later, the eagle's parents were spotted returning to the nest. AWR said the owners of the property will periodically check on the nest to make sure the parents are returning to it.
