Bat tests positive for rabies in Cedar Park

The bat was found on Three Arrows Court, near Brushy Creek Road.

CEDAR PARK, Texas — Authorities in Cedar Park are warning about rabies after finding a dead bat that tested positive for the disease.

The Cedar Park Police Department said Tuesday that the bat was found in the 4500 block of Three Arrows Court, which is a neighborhood off of Brushy Creek Road, east of Parmer Lane.

At this time, police said there is no known direct human contact with the bat.

Cedar Park police are reminding everyone to never touch stray or unknown animals and to make sure their pets' rabies vaccines are up to date.

KVUE reported two instances of a bat testing positive for rabies in the Austin area last year. In April, a bat found on the Great Lawn at Zilker Park tested positive and in June, a bat found at Town Lake Park tested positive.
