AUSTIN — Legendary British rockers the Arctic Monkeys shut down the Honda Stage on the final night of the Austin City Limits Music Festival on Sunday, Oct. 14.
Thousands of fans waited all day for a chance at catching the Arctic Monkeys -- Alex Turner, Matt Helders, Jamie Cook and Nick O'Malley -- who rarely hop the pond for Austin. They followed up after fellow Brits like The Wombats and Paul McCartney gave Texas a taste of the U.K. in the days prior.
Fresh off the May release of their new album "Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino," the Monkeys played hits that spanned their 12-year catalog -- including their successful 2013 album "AM" and 2006's "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not."
Frontman Turner didn't take too much time to converse with the crowd, but he and the Monkeys did supply song after song, even going over their set time as the fireworks blasted across the park from fellow headliner Travis Scott's stage.
Weren't able to catch their performance? While they were in Austin for ACL, they also dropped by ACL Live for a taping of the Austin City Limits TV show, which will air next year on PBS. Tune in and you might hear some of their hits like "Do I Wanna Know?," "Florescent Adolescent," and "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor."
