AUSTIN, Texas — Every week on KVUE, we feature a different child in the Texas foster care system, in hopes of helping them get adopted by a forever family.
Campbell is a friendly and polite 13-year-old boy with a wide range of talents and developing new interests.
Campbell met up with KVUE's Hannah Rucker for a day of Lego building at Bricks and Minifigs in North Austin.
"I like carefully organizing and finding the right place for each piece, and I also enjoy making my own creations too," Campbell said.
Campbell created his own fishing rod, finding different bits of Legos in a large bin and piecing them together.
"In school, I enjoy math and science the most, especially since because I have a really great science teacher who really makes me enjoy class," Campbell said.
Campbell said when he gets to high school, he wants to take a cooking class and a sewing class and would love for a forever family to help him with those skills.
"I think having my own fashion line would be so cool. I also want to be able to cook and have people look at me and say, 'Wow, this food is really good,'" Campbell said.
Campbell is tall and athletic, and he enjoys basketball and football. He plays with other kids at school and at his group home.
When he thinks about adoption, he said he wants to be able to do everyday things with a forever family.
"Go swimming, go to the mall, go to the park, just everyday things. I don't know – I just want a family," Campbell said.

KVUE launched the Forever Families segment with Partnerships for Children (PFC) in June 2020 to highlight children in the Heart Gallery of Central Texas who need secure and permanent families. Every day, there are nearly 1,000 children waiting to get adopted in Central Texas, according to PFC.
Editor's note: The children who are in the Heart Gallery program and featured in KVUE's Forever Families segments are children who have had every effort made on their behalf to connect them with family or others in their community to provide options for permanent, adoptive homes. Through no fault of their own, that hasn’t happened yet, and so in partnership with the Department of Family and Protective Services, we collaborate to bring awareness to KVUE viewers about these children in the hopes of finding them permanency before they age out.
